We’ve been writing scorecards and newsletters for over a year now, and we got to thinking: surely we got some of them wrong.
Should have waited till streaming, should have caught that one on the big screen, definitely should have spared no expense and bought the special AMC popcorn bucket and the largest Coke Zero, and watched it in IMAX.
We mean, we’re only human 😆
So we want to ask you, the people, our sweet friends who rise and shine every Friday morning, to read the latest Sweet & Condensed newsletter: Did we get it wrong?
Below, you will find three movies we covered last year, along with our verdicts. You get to decide how they aged. Did our verdicts hold up, or did they spoil?
Scroll and comment your opinions below! We want to hear them.

Sweet & Condensed: Civil War
Dev Patel broke his hand making Monkey Man, and Alex Garland said making Civil War has him questioning his future as a director. That's the dedication we want to bring you with this newsletter. We will not stop until the carpal tunnel and screen-induced blindness set in 😤
Letterboxd Description:
In the near future, a group of war journalists attempt to survive while reporting the truth as the United States stands on the brink of civil war.
Our verdict on 4/12/24:
We feel divided (no pun intended) on whether or not you should see this on the big screen. Not because it isn't a great film (it is), but this movie will not be for everyone. Half of the people we saw it with loved it, the other half wished they had never seen it.
Should we have fully committed to theaters or wait til streaming?
Letterboxd Description:
Tennis player turned coach Tashi has taken her husband, Art, and transformed him into a world-famous Grand Slam champion. To jolt him out of his recent losing streak, she signs him up for a “Challenger” event — close to the lowest level of pro tournament — where he finds himself standing across the net from his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend.
Our verdict on 4/26/24:
Half of us loved the movie, and the other half is pretty sure they hated it. We would still recommend seeing it on the big screen if for nothing more than getting out ahead of the social media hype so you can form your own opinion (you might love it, you might hate it - odds on both). But also, that banging score.
We recommended seeing it on the big screen. Do you think this was a wait til streaming?
Sweet & Condensed: The Fall Guy
We read this week that the average American only goes to the movie theater three times a year. Is that true? We need to know, so we are turning to you, the people, to settle this.
Letterboxd Description:
Fresh off an almost career-ending accident, stuntman Colt Seavers has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job.
Our verdict on 5/03/24:
This is a definite movie theater watch (unless you’re that guy in seat K17 – just stay home).
We were all in on watching it on the big screen. Were we wrong?
Let us know in the comments if we were off on our verdicts for these three movies!

Jaws by Steven Spielberg
Okay, so obviously Jaws is not new. BUT it has a nationwide re-release this year for its 50th Anniversary! For those who love this Spielberg classic or those who never had the chance to watch it on the big screen or those who have never seen Jaws and now get it to experience it in a theater like it’s 1975 again (I tell everyone this is why I held out for so long but everyone probably knows the real reason).
Theatrical re-release is from August 29th through September 4th!
Special screenings on the Water in selected locations and dates. Source and read more here on IMDb and Bloody-Disgusting.com
Added to my calendar to finally see this masterpiece. See you at the movies!
